Product description
The buff coat is derived from the simple leather vest (jerkin) worn by hunters and soldiers during the Tudor period, which in turn was based on the padded arming doublet worn under armor. The buff coat was used as European military clothing from around 1600 until the 1680s. They were usually worn under cuirasses and provided protection against cutting weapons such as rapiers and sabers. Most buff coats had sleeves, though some were sleeveless.
This buff coat is made of durable suede leather and provides reliable protection against wind and light rain. The closure consists of sturdy leather straps.
