This Alemannic belt fitting is based on originals excavated at the Niederstotzingen burial (Germany). Fittings like this were worn by all Germanic and Merovingian tribes around the 6th century AD. The fitting was excavated in grave 9, a male grave.
This fitting is suitable for belts with a width up to 2 cm. It measures 6 x 2 cm.
The graves of the South German town of Niederstotzingen contained many luxurious burial gifts. Together with this belt fitting, a sword, seax, shield edge, shield boss, lance, needles, knife, scissors and silver horse reigns were found.
