Product description

The sabre is an evolution of the European backsword, a straight, single-edged sword with a basket. It often has a slightly curved blade and a quite large knuckle-guard. Cavalry sabres however were straight and two-edged. Originally a 10th century Hungarian cavalry weapon the sabre had its highlight during the 19th century in the Napoleontic Wars and the American Civil War.

The sabre is delivered including a scabbard. Its length if 107 cm with a blade of 92 cm and a width of 3 cm. It weighs 1050 grams. This type of sabre was developed around 1840 in the US for the Dragoons, mounted infantry. The sabre always had a brass grip which was typical for this era. Sabres like this were used by North and South during the American Civil War.
