Product description
This belt end is inspired by the Jelling art style (890-990). It is bronze -colored and suitable for belt straps with a width of 3 cm. It measures 4.8 x 2.5 cm.
The ribbon -shaped animals, the animal heads and profile, the almond -shaped eyes and the beast that bites its own body are all common in the Viking Kunststijl Jellinge. This belt end is based on historical examples and looks elegant. The jelling style was universal throughout the Viking World and could be found in all European countries where Vikings traveled during the 10th century.
The beast depicted on this belt end is the Midgardsorm, or the Midgaard hose. The God Thor was in conflict with the Midgardsorm. In the Old Norwegian myth you can read that it was predicted that Thor and the Midgardsorm would kill each other during Ragnarok, the end of the old world. The God Odin would be eaten by the Fenriswolf.
