This bonnet is part of a typical Landsknecht costume. These mostly German mercenaries from the 15th/16th Century were known and feared all over Europe at that time. We recommend wearing the beret with the matching Landsknecht jerkin and pants, but this beret also cuts a fine figure with many other costumes. Berets were also often worn in combination with linen or fabric bonnets for a classic medieval look. The beret is closed with a drawstring and is therefore suitable up to a hat size of 64.
