A shoulder piece like this was also called pixane. Pixanes were sown to the gambeson and were usually worn underneath the suit of armour. As a result the wearer was also protected on the open spots in the suit of armour.
This shoulder piece is made of flat chain mail rings with an inner diameter of 8 mm. The rings are woven four in one and subsequently riveted with round rivets. The shoulder piece measures 36 x 27 cm and has a neck opening of 15 x 24 cm. It weighs approx. 0,8 kg.
