Product description

This war flail is a replica of various medieval originals. In the Middle Ages, the war flail was developed from the threshing flail, a common agricultural tool.

The war flail consisted of a wooden handle connected by a chain, rope, or leather strap to one or more striking heads. Various versions—sometimes smooth, sometimes spiked—spread from 10th-century Eastern Europe westwards. Illustrations from the 15th to 17th centuries depict both large, two-handed flails and shorter, one-handed versions. Notable examples can be seen in the painting Battle of Orsha (1520–1534), in The Travels of Marco Polo (c. 1410), and in the military treatise Bellifortis (c. 1450).

This flail features two heavy balls attached to two chains. It has a long 94 cm handle, ensuring the balls cannot strike your own hands.
