Product description

A voulge is a type of polearm that was primarily used in 15th-century France.

The voulge usually had a narrow, single-edged blade, sometimes with an additional cutting edge on the back. The blade was fitted into a socket on a shaft. Often, the weapon featured reinforcements on the shaft, called langets, and a round hand guard at the base of the blade. Soldiers who used this weapon were called voulgiers. The weapon was used, among others, by French archers and can also be seen in 15th-century artworks and manuscripts.
