Product description
Greaves were worn over chainmail chausses and provided an extra layer of protection for the lower legs of mounted knights. The development of greaves progressed alongside the shorter kite shield or knight’s shield, which replaced the older, taller heater shields that extended higher to protect the rider’s leg. Heavy shields were cumbersome in battle, making the combination of greaves with the kite shield a significant innovation.
These shin guards are slightly shorter than most greaves on the market, making them suitable for smaller adults and women as well. They are made from 1.2 mm thick carbon steel and feature leather straps on the back for secure fastening to the shin.
