Product description

This sword is an accurate replica of the sword of the famous English king Henry de VDE. He wore this sword possible during the Battle of Azincourt in the Hundred Years War. Just like the original, this sword is slightly decorated with gold paint and the famous cross of St. Joris. Ewart Oakeshott, a well -known English enthusiast, researcher and author of important books about swords, described Henry V's sword as "... one of the most beautiful medieval swords I have ever seen. ... It has the balance of a good rod." Like the original, this is a relatively compact weapon, specially designed for smooth cutting and bumping movements. The blade shows a light blood channel, and the cut is carefully applied during production. The balance is excellent, which makes the weapon feel vividly in the hand. The pommel, also hollow like the original model, is appropriated in the recesses in an appropriate way, with crosing on each side of red enamel (an enamel instead of paint was chosen because of the improved durability). Henry was one of the most powerful kings in England and is best known for his involvement in the Hundred Years War against France and his war against Welsh leader Owain Glyndwr. The sword had disappeared for years, until it turned up in a tomb in Westminster Abby. He is so decorated to give just enough flair for a king. This weapon was clear for the no-nonsens martial work referred to instead of ceremonial activities. Nowadays the sword is part of the Westminster Abby collection in the City of Westminster.
