Product description

These jackchains would have been worn by the common soldier throughout the 14th and 15th centuries. They provide protection to the joints and bones of the arm while not weighing or costing as much as a full arm harness. The solid metal strips would stop strikes which could not be fully stopped by cloth or chain armor, often saving a soldier’s arm from serious injury. The common soldier of this period could not afford a full suit of plate armor, but would still want to be as protected as their budget allowed. Some armies did have “munitions grade” plate armor which was lent or leased to soldiers and would often be made to fit any size. These jackchains are made from 1,6 mm steel, making them suitable for reenactment battles. They are designed to be attached to a gambeson or mail hauberk.
