Product description

The ikusa (Japanese for `battle`) is a katana suitable for battle.

This katana has a length of 104 cm (without scabbard) with a grip (tsuka) of 30,5 cm and a blade of 73 cm, the edge is 2 mm. It weighs 1450 g. It has a powerful stable blade made of flexible 9260 carbon steel with a scale of Rockwell hardness of HRC 55. The blade is made in the Shinogi-Zukuri style with a fuller. It has a rounded tip and a blunt edge for more security.

The grip wrapping is made of black cotton in the Katate-Maki style, typical for battle, underlaid with genuinge shagreen. This ikusa katana has an exceptional long tang (nakago) fixated with extra thick bamboo pins (mekugi). The scabbard (saya) is high polish lacquered black in the Kuroishime style. This katana is delivered including a striking collector`s box.

John Lees models are inspired on historical originals and are high quality weapons. No plastics are used, only high quality authentic materials, like metal, brass, wood and shagreen. Every John Lee weapon is delivered including a seal and a certificate of authenticity.
