Product description

The lorica segmentata was worn from the 2nd century AD by Roman legionaries. This type of armour plate consisted of iron strips that were attached to the inner side on a leather strap. This is a reconstruction of a lorica segmentata from the late 1stcentury AD that was found in Newstead, Scotland. The main difference between this type and is predecessors is that the Newstead lorica consisted of less ? but bigger - plates.

The reconstruction is suitable for a chest circumference up to 112 cm, including an optional gambeson (subarmalis). It is made of 1,3 mm thick steel and ornamented with brass. It weighs approx. 9,2 kg.
