Product description

In the centre of the medieval brooch, which is framed by a decorative frame, the Child Jesus with a halo can be seen next to the Virgin Mary, who is adorned with a cross and crown and holds a lily blossom in the crook of her arm. In Christian iconography, the lily is part of the Annunciation scene, for the Archangel Gabriel announces to Mary that she is the mother of the Saviour and Son of God, Jesus Christ. In pictorial representations, he usually holds a lily in his hand as a sign of Mary's purity and virginity. The medieval brooch measures 3.5 x 3.5 cm. There is a sturdy needle on the back, which is also suitable for strong woolen fabrics. The medieval brooch is made of high-quality bronze and is also available in genuine silver-plated.

In Christian iconography, the image of the Virgin Mary or the Madonna is the representation of Mary, either alone or together with the child Jesus. The term Madonna is used in particular for single representations of the Mother of God with her Child and has been the most frequently depicted theme in Christian art since the 3rd century, giving pictorial expression to the veneration of Mary in countless paintings and works of art.
