Product description
This buckler is classified as a type IB according to Herbert Schmidt’s typology. It has a round shape with sloping edges. The earliest depictions of this type of buckler appear in the early 14th-century Tower manuscript, though such weapons were likely already in use well into the 13th century. Bucklers like this one remained in use until the 16th century. They were very popular and were used both defensively and offensively in one-on-one combat.
This buckler is made of 2 mm thick steel. The edges are rounded, making it extra safe to use. Its 2 mm steel construction makes it perfect for reenactment and Historical European Martial Arts.
