Product description

For every lady who wants to dress like a medieval noblewoman! This bonnet was made after illustrations in thirteenth - fourteenth - century illuminated manuscripts from the north of Spain. For example, in the Golden Haggadah from 1320, made in Barcelona, women with a high social position such as Zipporah (the wife of Moses) and the Pharaoh's wife are depicted with such a headgear.

Bonnets like this were worn throughout Western Europe from about the thirteenth century to the fifteenth century. It can also be combined with, for example, a bycocket. In fourteenth century England, for example, it was a trend to wear a bycocket over such a bonnet during falconry or horseback riding.

This headgear is made of cotton. It falls over the back in beautiful graceful folds. At the back, the bonnet can be fastened with cotton cords, so that it stays in place.
