Product description

These couters are modeled after several late 15th- to early 16th-century originals. They are crafted in the Milanese style.

In the early 15th century, full suits of armor began to appear in northern Italy. These are known as Milanese armors. This style was worn throughout Europe and was therefore not regionally confined. The Milanese armor style is characterized by large, rounded, and undecorated plates. Typical helmets worn with such armor included the sallet, armet, and barbute. Beneath a Milanese armor, a full chainmail hauberk was usually worn. Milanese armor components were often worn as a complete suit of armor, but sometimes only individual pieces were used.

The couters are made of 2 mm thick steel and consist of five segments. They can be fastened and adjusted with two straps. The couters are equipped with two heart-shaped rondels to protect the inner sides of the arms. Each couter has a diameter of 11.5 cm and a length of 28 cm.
