Product description

A kilij is a type of single-handed, single-edged, curved saber used by the Seljuk Empire, Timurid Empire, Mamluk Sultanate, Ottoman Empire, and other Turkic khanates across the Eurasian steppes and in Turkestan. These swords developed from older Turko-Mongol sabers, which were already used in regions controlled or influenced by Turkic peoples. During the Ottoman wars (15th–17th centuries), these weapons were widely adopted by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, leading to various kilij variants being used in Europe during the 17th century.

The blade of this kilij is made of 9260 carbon steel and is semi-sharp. The guard is made of brass and shows clear European influences in its finishing.
