During the Middle Ages and Renaissance women wore an underskirt under the dress. The underskirt or petticoat provided extra warmth to the legs and also gave the dress extra volume and a nice silhouette with an edge that protruded under the normal fabric.
This petticoat is made of 100% fine cotton and has ruffles on the lower skirt part. As a result it falls down in folds and that gives the garment you wear over it more volume. The skirt has an elastic band so that it is comfortable to wear.
