This replica sword is based on historical swords from the time of the Caribbean pirates. Pirate swords like this are used in pirate series and movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Sails. The stories are well known: famous Caribbean pirates like Francis Drake, Anne Bonny, Charles Vane and Edward Teach attacked ships of the English and Spanish governments trying to supply their colonies in the Americas. The saber was pre-eminently the pirate sword. Many pirates had a navy background and simply brought their own weapon, or they stole them from ships. The semi-sharp blade is forged from tempered 1065 carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. The grip is wrapped in black leather and the hilt is made of brass with a patina brass layer so that it looks like a real old sword. It is delivered including a scabbard with the same antique finish.
