Product description
This buckler is ideal for both archers and light infantry. A buckler is a small hand-held shield used in close combat. It was a popular form of protection among infantry from the 12th to the 17th century and could be wielded in either hand. Despite its small size, it was effective at deflecting blows.
According to Herbert Schmidt’s classification, this buckler is Type IIa, featuring a round shape with sloping edges. The earliest depictions of this type appear in the early 14th-century Tower Manuscript, though these weapons were likely used as early as the 13th century. Bucklers like this remained in use until the 16th century.
This buckler is made of 2 mm thick steel with a wooden grip. It is available in three sizes: S – 23 cm diameter, M – 31 cm diameter, and L – 38 cm diameter.
