This dagger is a replica of an original from the 1st century AD found in the Rhineland. Pugiones like this were used all over the Roman Empire, but they weren't part of the standard equipment of the legionair. Roman soldiers probably bought them as a private property.

This pugio is made of carbon steel. It is 32 cm long, with a blade of 22 cm long and 5,2 cm wide. The scabbard is decorated with brass ornaments that are typical for the 1st century AD. This dagger weighs 0,9 kg.
