Product description
Greaves were worn over chainmail chausses and provided an additional layer of protection for the lower legs of mounted knights. The development of greaves ran parallel with the emergence of the shorter pavise or knight’s shield, which replaced the older, taller kite shields that protected the rider’s leg. Heavy shields were cumbersome in combat, making the development of greaves alongside the pavise a significant innovation.
This leg armor is based on medieval greaves. It features leather straps for adjusting and securing the armor to the size of your shins. The interior metal is blackened to prevent rust. The steel is 1 mm thick and provides good protection for the legs during LARP battles against impacts from arrows and similar attacks.
