Roman coins were, beside a currency, also a way of propaganda and communication for the emperor. The head showed the emperor's face as ruler over the Roman empire. The other side showed images that the emperor wanted to show his people.

The Romans crossed the canal in 43 AD with an army of 40.000 soldiers. Later on, emperor Claudius came to Britannia himself to lead command over his troops. This set contains an aureus of this emperor. This aureus was minted between 41 and 54 AD and contains the inscription DE BRITANN as a celebrated triumph.
The other coin from his set has a depiction of emperor Claudius' head. The back of the coin shows Minerva.
Hadrianus changed a lot in the British landscape. His most well-known project was building the world famous Hadrian's Wall. This construction was meant to delay potential attacks from the north. As a result, relativaly less legions were necessary to defend the northern border. This coin of Hadrian was minted between 117 and 138 AD. It shows the emperor's bust.
These three coins are delivered including a card. The card contains information on the Roman occupation of Britannia.
