Product description
This votive statue is a replica of a piece from the 2nd century AD, found in Hattenbach. It is currently in the collection of the Germanisches Landesmuseum in Trier. Small statues of Fortuna were placed in house altars throughout the Roman empire.
Fortuna, or Fanum Fortunae, was the Roman goddess of chance, both of fortune and misfortune.
This statue is made of alabaster and is 18 cm high. Possibly such statues were painted, so that they god a lifelike appearance.
