Product description
This Viking throwing axe is a replica of several historical originals. The axe head is classified as a Petersen Type A. Blades of this type were slender and were possibly originally developed for woodworking, but they were also used in warfare. This type of axe was likely made between 800 and 850 AD, though some sources suggest it remained in use until as late as 1050 AD.
This sturdy throwing axe is fully functional. The axe head is made of carbon steel with a hardness of 52 HRC. It has been antiqued to make it look authentically aged, closely resembling the originals.
The axe features a hardwood handle and measures 44.5 cm in length. The blade is 8.2 cm long, and the axe weighs 567 grams.
