Product description
The doublet was a fitted men’s jacket worn in Western Europe from the Middle Ages until the 17th century. Originally, it served as an undergarment beneath a hauberk or a cuirass to prevent chafing. By the 15th century, doublets became more decorative and were sometimes worn on their own.
Doublets were extremely popular in the 16th century. During this period, a leather jacket or vest was sometimes worn over the doublet. This type of doublet was worn from the first half of the 16th century onward.
This doublet is made of velvet and fastens at the front with metal buttons.
