Product description

This type of axe blade is classified as Petersen Type I. The blade is thicker, shorter, and less sharp than Type H. Axes of this type were highly functional and were probably originally developed for woodworking. They were in use from around 900 to 1000 AD.

This hand-forged Viking axe head is perfect for making your own axe! The blade has an authentic hand-forged finish with visible hammer marks. It has a semi-sharp edge and is made of carbon steel. You can further sharpen the edge with a whetstone.
