Product description
The seax is a short sword that was mainly used by the Germanic people and the Vikings. This type of weapon did not have a guard, but had a straight shape. The blade was one-edged. The sax was cheaper to buy than the sword, it was mainly made by local blacksmiths and not by specialized blacksmiths.
The sax was multifunctional. During the battle it was possible to use it for close combat, but when working on the land it also functioned as a kind of machete with which plants and crops could be cut. People also prepared food with it and it was useful to skin animals. The sax is one of the most characteristic weapons for the early Middle Ages. According to the Iceland saga, the Vikings even preferred the sax over the sword.
This sax looks beautifully authentic with a hand-forged finish. It has a gorgeous grip of wood and bone. It is delivered including a brown leather sheath with belt loop. In this sheath you can hang the sax on your belt.
