Product description

The slender, elongated Norwegian spearheads (9th/11th century - Type K according to Petersen - mainly found in Sweden) were perfectly suited for throwing. Their shape and weight, combined with the power of the throw, allowed for deep penetration. On the battlefields of the early Middle Ages, Norsemen often carried several javelins which they hurled at the enemy when the distance narrowed. This gave them the freedom to use their swords, axes or heavier spears in subsequent hand-to-hand combat. This spearhead is suitable for a Viking Age/early medieval setting and is made of hardened EN45 carbon steel. It has a length of about 41 cm (16.25 in.) and edges about 28 cm (11 in.) long. Using two pre-drilled holes, the spearhead can be attached to a wooden shaft of your choice, allowing you to create your own Viking or early medieval spear. Shaft and additional mounting material are not included.
