Product description

This sax is based on originals made on the British Isles between the 9th and 11th centuries. This type of sax is mainly found on the British Isles and Ireland, though some examples were also used in Scandinavia and Germany. Saxes like this were used both as weapons and as cutting tools in daily life. They may also have had a ritual role in offerings.

Vikings were skilled bone workers, crafting combs and even knife handles from cattle bones. The grip of this sax is abstractly decorated, a style commonly applied to knives and saxes during the Viking Age.

This sax comes with a luxurious leather sheath, featuring brass decorations.
