Product description
This wooden round shield by Windlass Steelcrafts is based on Viking shields from the early Middle Ages. Perfect for Viking reenactment or Vikings Cosplay and Last Kingdom Cosplay. A Viking shield was usually round so that Viking warriors could line up in shield wall formation and throw spears at the enemy. They also used shields to break through the enemy's line. Vikings also hung their shields on ships, this can be seen for example at the Gokstad ship. This protected the crew from waves and wind. Archaeological finds show that some shields were decorated with scenes from the Viking Edda and other stories, and many Viking poems are dedicated to shields. This round shield is made of wood and has a shield boss to deflict blows from the enemy weapon. The wood has a dark color and the Viking shield has a steel edge for extra strength. The back has a leather handle with strap and a padding for the arm.
