Product description

The chaperon is a hooded headwear that was often worn during the Middle Ages. The cap reached to the shoulders so that the head and neck of the wearer were completely covered; only the face was not covered. The chaperon ended at the back of the head in a long point (liripipe) as a kind of pointed hood. During the early Middle Ages the chaperon was mostly worn by poor people. From the 14th century on richer people started wearing chaperons as well, made of a more luxurious fabric.

This chaperon is made of thick wool and covers the largest part of the shoulders. The hood has a long point at the end. It fits all sizes.
