This is the tagline of Celtic WebMerchant. But what exactly are History Rebels?

We see History Rebels as mavericks, out-of-the-box thinkers. People who want to be themselves, not conditioned by the dogmas’s of modern society. People who value their heritage, nature, and the way their ancestors lived. On one hand, as a History Rebel, you enjoy the good things modern society has to offer, but at the same time, you long for a slower way of life. You want to bridge the gap between past and present.

If you Google History Rebels, you will find rebels from the past. Names like Sir William Wallace, Joan of Arc, Robin Hood, William Tell, Galileo Galilei, Erik the Red. What do these heroes have in common with modern History Rebels? They thought against the tide in the era they lived. But such rebels also live today. Perhaps there are more rebels today than in all other centuries combined. Why?

Knowledge is no longer a tool of power for the bourgeoisie. With the advent of the internet and the development of the smartphone, knowledge is not only available to everyone, but you can also access it directly. This means you no longer have to believe everything others tell you, but you can conduct your own research. History Rebels stands for free thinking on basic of independent research. This is, of course, easier in a society where knowledge is freely accessible. As a History Rebel, you therefore structure your life as you wish with knowledge of the present, past, and your own role in it.

How do you apply this in practice in your own life?

For example, try not to get carried away by the high pressure and the 'must do everything' mentality. It does no harm to take a step back from societal expectations in your free time and enjoy the small things that make life special. Take a walk in nature, visit events and festivals, read a good book about history or another subject that can help you develop yourself. Make one-on-one time with good friends. Write a (fantasy) story, or build an entire world. Rediscover the history of life in Scandinavia and Scotland. Work out a design that has been in your head for a long time. And above all, dare to say 'no' to others. Wear the clothes you want, shape your relationship as it seems best to you, spend time on the hobby 's' you choose yourself.

As a History Rebel, you live on your own terms with core values: more contact with nature, more outdoors, attention to stories, together with friends, tradition, creativity, imagination, and a slower life with an eye for what is truly important.

Many rebels also work at Celtic WebMerchant! Together we have created a range where you can find what you need for your life path as a History Rebel.
