Get the Look: Drow Fighter

Drow Fighter Dungeons and Dragons

Forced into a life of servitude to Lolth, after many years of schooling in Arach-Tinilith to become a priestess, Micarraedrin Arabiryn harbored resentment towards her family. She had always been skilled with a sword, but the rules of society did not allow her to use her talents. Micarraedrin Arabiryn felt she was wasting her life, so she decided to take control herself. She left the Underdark behind. It took some time, but eventually, she further developed her combat skills and learned to apply her knowledge as a priestess in combat situations. Now she is one of the most feared fighters on the surface, operating under the cover of darkness...

Drow Fighter Breastplate

Drow fighters regularly face danger, which means they run a high risk of injury. Therefore, a armour is a very important part of a fighter's gear. Drows may be able to avoid injury more easily than some other races, but they are not invulnerable. However, they can get away with wearing less or lighter armor.

This breastplate can be worn over clothing, but also directly on the skin, depending on the look you are going for.

Gorget

Of course, a breastplate alone does not offer much protection. A gorget helps protect the chest and neck area, but is also necessary to wear pauldrons. This specific gorget has an elegant shape, which is why it is perfect for Drow Fighters or other Elven characters.

Pauldrons

To complete the upper body armor of Micarraedrin Arabiryn, we have added pauldrons to her look. Pauldrons cover the shoulders and, in combination with a gorget, keep the area around the neck and shoulders safe from injury. These simple pauldrons complement the Mina gorget well.

Skirt

Micarraedrin Arabiryn wears a long, blood-red skirt. With her Elven elegance and agility, a skirt will not be an obstacle. The red colour immediately evokes a sense of danger in anyone who sees her.

Belt

A good, sturdy belt is always a great addition to a fighter's look. Besides being a beautiful accessory, a belt can help you add many other things to your look. In this look, we used the belt to add some lower body armor, but also as a place to hang some extra accessories. This really helps to bring the character and her background to life.

Thigh Armor

If you do not wish to use full body armor but still want some armor in addition to upper body armor, you can use thigh armors. Thigh armors protect the thighs without fully covering the legs. This makes them a lighter and more comfortable option than full leg armor.

Sword

The only thing a fighter cannot do without is a weapon. Swords are always a popular option and there is a lot of variation among swords. You will always be able to find a sword that matches the character you want to portray. For Micarraedrin Arabiryn, we wanted something more fantastical but also terrifying.

Shield

Because Micarraedrin Arabiryn does not wear full body armor, she wears a shield for extra protection during battles. We wanted the shield to match the atmosphere of the sword, so we decided to use a shield with "metal" details and a menacing look.

For the DIY enthusiast:

Trophies

Drows are generally known as being on the darker side of DnD lore, sometimes even malevolent. To give a nod to this aspect of the race, Micarraedrin Arabiryn carries some trophies of slain opponents on her belt. A clear message to anyone thinking of crossing her path...

Wig

One of the things that makes a drow recognizable is their silver-white hair. The easiest way to achieve such a hair color is by wearing a wig.

Ears

The ears we have used are originally neutral from colour, but can be painted. A big advantage is that they come with Mastix spirit glue included:

Other necessities:

To achieve the blue skin color, we used two products. For the basic, we used a body spray paint and for the face and finishing touches, water-based makeup. The paint can also be used to color the ears.
