For this look, we were inspired by the DnD class Paladin, who took the Oath of the Ancients.
Cedric, originally a simple farmer managing his family's land, had always felt a deep connection to nature. On a fateful day, while exploring the nearby forest, he encountered a sinister threat lurking in the shadows: a damaged forest, whose ancient trees were twisted and tainted by dark forces. Witnessing the desecration of the land, he felt an overwhelming sense of duty and swore to protect the beauty and purity of the natural world. Cedric embarked on a quest to become a paladin of the Oath of the Ancients, dedicated to purifying the land and ensuring the flourishing of all living beings. As Cedric honed his new powers, he remained a guardian of the forest, pledging to defend it against anyone who sought to harm it.
We wanted to show his development from a young farm boy to a full-fledged paladin who has found his calling.
Farm Boy
The young Paladin Cedric always had a love for nature. He often wanders through the forest, making notes and sketches of the things he sees. He wears a relatively simple, medieval-inspired outfit.
Tunic
A young peasant boy would not be particularly chicly dressed, so a simple medieval tunic or shirt is perfect as basic for such a look. A basic tunic like this was very common during the Middle Ages, but also in ancient Rome. Layered with an undertunic, this tunic would also be perfect for a Viking or Germanic look, so it is very versatile.
Trousers
Paladin Cedric wears a flexible trousers, suitable for various looks.
Fur Collar
When you are outside as a Paladin, some form of protection against the elements is essential. If the weather is not too cold or wet, a cloak might be a bit too much. In such cases, a fur collar is a great alternative.
Boots
Sturdy shoes are important, both when working on a farm and when wandering through the forest as a Paladin. Tall boots also protect your legs during your adventure.
Leather Diary
Our young paladin has a great love for the forest and everything that lives in it. To learn more about different plants and animals, he makes notes and sketches of everything that catches his eye. For this, he always carries a small leather diary with him.
Travel Equipment
Every adventurer needs a bag to store equipment and treasures. When you wear this Paladin outfit to festivals, you can use our bags to store your phone and wallet.
As a nod to DnD heroes without darkvision, we have added a set of torches to Cedric's equipment and a beautiful walking stick complements the first layer of this Paladin outfit
Paladin in an Early Stage
After encountering a situation that threatened the forest, Cedric, in despair, took the Oath of the Ancients and began his journey to become the guardian of the forest. At this point in his journey, he still wears his original clothing but had to add to it to survive training and battles.
Undertunic
Now that our Paladin is beginning to wear some armor, he needs more padding to wear underneath. By wearing an undertunic, he has an extra layer of clothing to make the armour more comfortable to wear and to slightly cushion the blows he receives. Because it is not too thick, it does not restrict movement.
Cuirass
Because he has just left his farm and is still learning how to become a fighter, a full suit of armor is not something our young Paladin can afford. One of the most important parts of the body to protect during a fight is the torso. A armour covers both the front and back of the torso, so that was the first thing our farm boy bought on his journey to become a paladin.
Arm armour
The arms are an easy target during a sword fight, making arm protection essential. Steel arm armor, like that worn by our emerging paladin, is one way to protect the arms. A paladin on a limited budget can also start with leather vambraces or with vambraces with vertical metal strips on them.
Paladin with Full Armor
After years of training, the paladin is now the ranger of the forest of his youth. He ensures that no one harms the forest and the creatures living in it. Cedric now even wears a more complete armour, has moved from a staff to a sword, and you can also see that nature itself becomes part of his equipment.
Helmet
Now that he has grown into an experienced paladin, he needs more protection than before. His battles are tougher, and the risk of injury is greater. To protect his head, the paladin wears a closed helmet to protect both the head and the neck.
Sword
To protect the forest, Cedric fights with an extremely large sword. With this sword, he can deliver powerful blows to his opponents and is virtually unbeatable. However, we understand that a sword of this size is not suitable for everyone. Fortunately, it is also available in 2 other, smaller sizes.
Gloves
When fighting with swords, the hands are in a very vulnerable position. They are easy targets for the opponent, so it is important to protect them. Our paladin wears gloves made of carbon steel to ensure that his hands do not sustain injuries during his battles.
An alternative to full gloves are half gloves, which you can wear over leather gloves.
