Get the look: Pixie rogue

A band of diverse companions sneaks through the shadows, trying to remain unseen by the guards. They are attempting to infiltrate the castle to free the Pixies who are being held captive by the lord's mage. You see, Pixies have fairy dust, which possesses great magical properties. And mages are always trying to find ways to harness the power of fairy dust for themselves and their gentlemen.

One of the guards begins to turn in the direction of the rescue team. They hold their breath... when suddenly the guard turns to the other side and grabs his neck. A soft, high-pitched giggle is heard, but no one is visible. The group quickly slips past the distracted guard, into the castle. Inside, they hear the giggle again.

"Well done, Berrygust," mutters the leader of the group, after which a small Pixie with bright blue hair and a bow in her hands becomes visible.

Berrygust is a Pixie Rogue, who has made it her mission to rescue her fellow creatures from mages and other malevolent beings. And of course, to save some other creatures and people while she's at it. In this blog, we want to show you how to create a look for such a character.

There are many different interpretations of what Pixies look like. One thing that is often common, however, is that they rarely wear heavy or stiff clothing. They are generally lightly dressed . Since Berrygust is a rogue and thus wears a armour, we thought that some type of blouse should be worn under her armour. The blouse used in this look is extra versatile because part of the sleeves is detachable. The long version of the sleeve gives a more playful and cute appearance, and the shortened version is more practical when handling weapons.

Despite Berrygust being a rogue, we did not want to completely ignore her background as a playful and light forest creature. Therefore, we chose to give her a long skirt. A Pixie does not need to run or climb, so a skirt would not hinder her mobility at all.

Pixies love to dress up. They like to add all sorts of details to their outfit. As a rogue, too many frills would not be very practical, so Berrygust has simpler accessories. They still maintain a connection with nature through colour and material, like this green braided belt.

In many myths and folklore, pixies can be warded off with iron or other types of metal. Therefore, steel armor would not be so logical in a Pixie appearance. Leather would be a much better alternative. Pixies are also often seen as forest creatures, so leather works much better to show their connection to nature than steel.

When shooting a bow, there is always the risk of string slap from the bowstring. Therefore, archers wear a vambrace to protect their forearm. Vambraces, on the other hand, are typically part of plate armor, to protect the arms in battle. In fantasy costumes, you can play with these items. Leather vambraces for an archer who also wields other weapons would certainly be within the possibilities.

Also, when creating a character that cannot wield a steel, such as a Pixie, leather vambraces are a perfect way to add extra protection.

Another way to give a nod to Berrygust's connection with nature is through accessories. Leaf designs and natural materials would be beautiful details to add. This leather headband not only ticks those boxes but the shape around the cheeks also gives the idea that it is a kind of armor.

Pixies don't really like violence and weapons. Mischief, sure, but that's where they draw the line. Only on very rare occasions do Pixies resort to weapons. Long-range weapons would be more logical for a character that doesn't really enjoy using them. This way, they can keep themselves at a distance from the fight. With Pixies being able to become invisible, they would also be harder to target when attacking from afar.

Every archer needs a quiver, even a Pixie. By wearing it on a belt, the quiver does not get in the way during flight and is still easy to reach.

Having a spare weapon is always a good idea, but there are limited options when it comes to long-range weapons. A set of throwing knives is the perfect spare for a Pixie Rogue who prefers not to get too close to the action.

Pixies are very mischievous creatures. They enjoy playing tricks on others and are very playful. A colorful, lively hairstyle is a great way to incorporate that mischievous side into your look.

Of course, a Pixie look wouldn't be complete without a pair of Pixie ears. Pixies have pointed ears, like elves, but their ears are usually much longer. Some of our ears even come with adhesive.
