Mix&Match budget: three looks for a Pirate woman

Piraat vrouw

If you are just starting in the world of historical and fantasy costumes, it can be challenging to figure out how to assemble your outfit. Moreover, costs can add up significantly if you still need to buy everything, especially if you don't have any items to fall back on.

Therefore, in this blog, we want to present three basic pirate options. Although purchasing your first outfit is always a substantial investment, we have ensured that all looks remain under €200, keeping costs manageable. We have deliberately chosen not to recommend specific shoes for these looks. Shoes can indeed take a big bite out of your budget, while they can often be easily replaced by a modern alternative. With a simple pair of boots from the thrift store or a budget shoe store, you can go a long way, allowing you to save for the investment in authentic shoes at a later time.

Most of the garments we used in these looks are available in different colors. This allows you to mix items from different compositions or choose another colour that suits your taste.

Pirate Woman Look 1

For the first pirate woman look, we have chosen a black, off-shoulder blouse. This type of blouse can be combined in different looks, both historical and fantasy.

With a pirate costume for women, you can go two ways. You can keep it more feminine by using a skirt, but you can also opt for a tougher, more masculine look by using a trousers. In this first composition, we have chosen a red skirt.

The combination of just a blouse and skirt does not yet make it a pirate outfit. To get the pirate feell in the outfit, we have worked with a few accessories.

To start, we added a belt to the outfit. This belt is relatively simple, but the double ring adds a nice detail. We hung a seafarers' telescope in a pouch on the belt. We also used the traditional tricorn pirate hat.

The second pirate look starts with another blouse. This blouse, like the first, can be worn off-shoulder. The difference with the first blouse is that this blouse has longer sleeves with a puff at the top. Like the first blouse, this model is easy to incorporate into different looks.

For this second look, we chose to go for a tougher side by adding a trousers. This trousers has multiple button details and laces at the bottom of the trouser leg.

To further dress up this outfit and make it more pirate-like, we chose to also add a waistcoat. These types of waistcoats are often used in pirate costumes.

In this composition, we used only one accessory because we used one more piece of clothing than in the first look.

This accessory is a brown belt with a large, decorated buckle. This belt is perfect for a pirate costume.

The final look in this blog is a more luxurious version of a pirate outfit.

We have started again with a blouse. This blouse has a different neckline than the first two, with bow details on the chest.

We have combined this blouse with a black trousers. It is a fairly simple model with a cord closure.

To create a completely different look, we used a pirate coat in this style. This type of coat is often associated with the pirate captain.

Just like in the second look, we used only a belt as an accessory, since we have already used three garments.

This time it is a simple black belt.
