Mix&Match budget: three looks for a Viking woman

Viking vrouw

As a newcomer to the world of historical and fantasy costumes, it can be challenging to know where to start when assembling your outfit. The costs can also add up significantly if you still need to purchase everything, especially if you don't have existing items to work with.

For this reason, we present three basic options for a Viking woman outfit in this blog. While buying your first outfit is always an investment, we have ensured that all looks remain under €200, keeping costs manageable. We have chosen not to recommend specific shoes for these looks, as shoes often take a large chunk out of your budget and can be more easily replaced with a modern alternative. A simple pair of boots or shoes from the thrift store or a budget shoe store can be sufficient to get you started, allowing you to save up for the investment in authentic shoes at a later time.

All garments used in these looks are available in various colors. This makes it possible to combine items from different compositions or choose a different color scheme.

In our first Viking look, we use the dress Valdis as basic. This dress is a simple model and can therefore be styled in many different ways.

To pull the outfit more towards a real Viking look, we have chosen a hangeroc over the basic dress. This hangeroc has a few nice details in the form of color blocks and embroidery.

It's always fun to use a few accessories. That way, you can give a personal touch to your outfit.

In this composition, we have chosen a leather belt with Viking style buckle. Additionally, we have also added turtle brooches, which were historically necessary to be able to wear a hangeroc.

For the second outfit, we have chosen another simple basic dress. This time the dress Elisa, in the green. Like the dress from the first look, this model can be used in a

variety of outfits.

Because the hangeroc was truly a common garment for Viking women, we have also used a hangeroc in this look. This hangeroc is simpler than the one from the first look, but it is a flattering model.

The accessories we have added to this outfit are similar to the first look, but just a little different.

Instead of a leather belt, we have chosen a woven belt this time. This type of belt was also frequently worn by the Vikings.

We have also used turtle brooches again to decorate the hangeroc.

Just like with the first two looks, we started the last look with a simple basic dress. In this case, we chose the dress Freya. This dress has a slightly different neckline. This dress is also very well suited to be combined with a variety of garments and accessories. It is available in many different colors.

For this final look, we didn't want to work with a hangeroc again, to show another option as well. In this composition, we combined the dress with a chaperon.

Because this look does not include a hangeroc, we were able to use another option for accessories as well.

Of course, this look also features a belt, as they were very common in Viking clothing. This time, we attached a pouch and a drinking horn in a holder to the belt.
