It can sometimes be challenging to come up with creative alternatives for styling garments, especially when they are associated with a specific historical period or population group, such as the Middle Ages or the Vikings. In this blog, we will present three unique looks, all based on the same Viking dress, namely the dress Valdis in the blue.
Viking dress Valdis Look 1 - Dark elf
The first look we are going to create with the Valdis dress is a Dark elf look. Dark elves are often associated with the night and forests where daylight cannot reach. Colors like blue and black are therefore well-suited for a dark elf look.
We use the blue Valdis dress as basic in this outfit. It is a very simple dress, allowing you to explore many different directions with layers and accessories, including the dark elf direction.
Over the dress we give our dark elf an overskirt with various, pointed layers. This overskirt is great for elf costumes and other fantasy characters. These layers over the dress immediately make the whole less basic.
For alternatives, you can check our category Fantasy & festival clothing.
We have given our dark elf black ankle boots. These boots are simple but sturdy and therefore suitable for different looks.
To make the outfit tougher and darker, we have chosen black leather armor. Our dark elf is not afraid to fight, but she must have the necessary protection, of course. The chest armor has engraved details giving it a more elven feel. Our dark elf also wears a leather gorget to protect her neck.
For more leather armor, you can look in our Brigandines & scale armour category.
To add extra accessories to the look, our dark elf wears a simple but practical belt. To this belt, our dark elf has attached a handy bag and a weapon holder.
We have more sword holders in our category Dagger & sword sheaths, Belt holders.
In the sword holder, our dark elf carries her favorite weapon, an elven sword. This sword is in an elven style, but then black with golden accents. Perfect for a dark elf.
For other fantasy swords, you can look in our category LARP swords.
No elven look is complete without the right ears, not even a dark elf look. The pointed ears are the most recognizable aspect of the elven races.
You can find other options in our LARP masks, noses, ears, teeth & horns category.
Look 2 - Moon elf
The second look we created with the blue Valdis dress is in line with the first look but will have a completely different appearance. The second look is specifically a moon elf look. Both the dark elf and the moon elf are associated with the night and darkness, but while the dark elf is a tough warrior, the moon elf is elegant and regal.
The basic for this look is again the Valdis dress in the blue colour. This midnight blue colour is a beautiful basic for a look inspired by the night sky.
Over the blue dress, our moon elf wears a silver-gray, tunic-like dress. The model of this dress is very fantasy based and gives a regal appearance to the outfit. Due to the shorter front and the slit, the blue underdress is still visible.
In our category Fantasy and festival dresses you can find other options.
The two dresses are combined with a simple yet feminine pair of shoes. These low shoes with buckle closure fit perfectly into a more elegant look.
To give this ensemble even more of a royal elf appearance, we have given our moon elf a fabric belt with embroidery.
This belt is available in different colors.
Our moon elf likes to walk around outside at night to watch the moon and stars. During these nocturnal walks, she wears a warm, elegant cloak against the cold.
You can find alternatives in our category Festival cloaks, coats & robes.
No elf look is, of course, complete without a set of elf ears. There are many different variations of elf ears, but for this look, we have used a classic model.
We have more options in our LARP masks, noses, ears, teeth & horns category.
Look 3 - Witch
The last outfit we have composed with the blue Valdis dress is again a fantasy outfit. This outfit is a fun, playful witch look.
Just like with the first two looks, we start with the blue Valdis dress. Because this dress is so simple, it is very easy to combine in different types of outfits. By working with layers, the dress looks very different each time.
To give our witch a playful feel, we gave her a sleeveless overdress with ruffle details. This overdress is longer in the front and back than on the sides. As a result, the underdress is visible not only at the sleeves but also in the skirt.
In our category Fantasy and festival dresses you can find other options.
We have given our witch the same shoes as the moon elf. These shoes are beautifully neutral and can be used for many different looks.
Over the two dresses, our witch wears a broad belt. This belt places a nice emphasis on the waist and makes the whole look a bit bolder.
For an alternative, check our Fantasy belts category.
Our witch also uses her belt to hang a few essential items. For example, she carries a leather pouch on the belt, and a glass bottle in a leather holder. This way, she always has her money and her potion at hand.
In our category Festivals you can find other fun accessories.
Of course, our witch is also wearing the well-known witch hat. We have chosen a gray hat that nicely complements the overdress.
To keep larger items with her, such as her spellbook, our witch uses a cotton shoulder bag. Her spellbook is bound in engraved leather.
In our category Festivals you can find other fun accessories.
Our witch also always carries her wand with her, to use her magical powers more precisely.
