A recurvebow, or horsebow, is specifically designed for use on horseback.
Recurve bows are generally shorter than regular bows and the limbs have a significant curve. This curve helps to shorten the length of the bow, without losing energy and speed during shooting.
Recurvebow draw weight
Important for every bow is the draw weight. The draw weight determines how much force you need to pull the bow all the way back. This draw weight is measured in lbs, English pounds (1 lbs = 0.454 kg). The heavier the bow, the more weight you must be able to pull, but also the faster the arrow will be when fired.
The average draw weight of a recurvebow is between 15 and 50 lbs.
The limbs of a recurvebow are often constructed from laminates, which are multiple layers of wood and plastic, such as fibreglass and carbon, glued together
