Product description
The original Shrewsbury sword, an Oakeshott type XV, is nowadays part of the Wallace Collection. Our sword is not an exact replica of the aforementioned historical original, but is instead based on different parts of original late fourteenth century - early fifteenth century swords used in the Battle of Shrewsbury.
The Battle of Shrewsbury took place on July 21, 1403, with King Henry IV of England triumphing over Sir Henry Percy of Northumberland. This Percy rebelled against his king along with the leader of the Welsh Revolt in 1400-1415.
This one-and-a-half sword, or bastard sword, is made of tempered EN45 spring steel. The pommel is riveted and the grip consists of a wooden core wrapped with brown leather. It has a cross-guard with cross-shaped motifs and an octagonal scent-stopper pommel. The cross-guard is approximately 23 cm long and 0.5 cm thick. The sword is delivered including a wooden scabbard covered with brown leather. The scabbard has steel scabbard tips.
