Product description

The Battle of Tewkesbury on 4 May 1471 was a decisive battle during the War of the Roses. The War of the Roses took place between 1455 and 1485, this was a series of battles for the English crown that were fought between the houses of Lancaster and York. Both families were members of the ruling English dynasty, the Plantagenets. The war is named after the emblem of both families: a red rose for the Lancasters and a white rose for the Yorkists. Tragically, it was precisely this war that caused this dynasty to end. After the war the Tudors became England’s ruling family.

This sword is a replica based on originals used during the Battle of Tewkesbury. This one-and-a-half sword, or bastard sword, is made of tempered EN45 spring steel. The pommel is screwed and the grip consists of a wooden core wrapped in black leather. It has a cross-guard with cross-shaped motifs and a scent-stopper pommel, also with a cross motif. The cross-guard is approximately 23 cm long and 0.5 cm thick. The sword is delivered including a wooden scabbard covered with black leather. The scabbard has steel tips.
