This type of helmet was especially popular during the Archaic period, the 8th or 6th century BC. From the 5th century on, people started to prefer the Thracian helmet that provided a better field of view. The Corinthian helmet was generally made of bronze and covered the whole head, while there was a small opening for the eyes and mouth. Later on the helmet was appropriated by the republican soldiers of Rome. This helmet is made of 1,5 mm thick brass. The helmet crest stand is decorated with a simple geometric pattern. It has a leather inlay and a strap to fasten it under the chin. The helmet is suitable for a head circumference up to 62 cm and it weighs approx. 2,4 kg.
