Product description

This is a battle-ready replica of a 10th century Viking helmet that was excavated in a tumulus in Gjermundbu, Norway. The original model was broken into nine pieces and reconstructed. Nowadays it is exhibited at the Statens Historical Museum in Oslo. The `glasses` protect both the eyes and the nose, while the chainmail provides the neck with a flexible protection.

This helmet is made of 2 mm thick steel. It is unpolished and darkened like the original. The chainmail neck protection consists of riveted round mail rings. This helmet is suitable for a head circumference up to 62 cm. It weighs approx. 2,9 kg.
