Product description

Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar or better known as El Cid was a Castilian nobleman who conquered and controlled Valencia after his exile. El Cid means 'the lord' in a mix of Spanish and Arabic. He had two swords: Tizona and Colada. El Cid won Colada from the Count of Barcelona and gave it to one of his sons in law, but reclaimed it when he mistreated his daughter. A sword that is thought to be Colada is now exhibited at the Royal Palace of Madrid.

This richly decorated version of the Colada has a length of 102 cm. The grip and the pommel are finished with brass, the blade is engraved.

This sword is an Oakeshott type XVIIIc.
