Product description
Similar swords have been found all over Europe and were likely used at the beginning of the Hundred Years’ War. The original of this medieval knightly sword is part of the Royal Armouries collection (object number IX.2141) and features several distinctive characteristics.
The subtly shaped crossguard curves toward the blade, tapers slightly, and widens again at the ends. The grip fits comfortably in the hand, and the pommel has a distinctive shape with defined angles and edges. The broad blade has a flattened, diamond-shaped cross-section, is double-edged, and features a narrow fuller. The blade widens slightly where it meets the hilt and tapers to a pointed tip. This sword is relatively light for its size, yet offers excellent balance and control.
This replica is crafted with a hand-forged blade by an experienced smith, made from modern 1065 high-carbon steel that is fully hardened and tapered for optimal weight distribution. The blade has a hardness of 48–52 HRC. The scabbard has a wooden core covered in leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass fitting, decorated with ornate cutouts and an acorn-shaped chape. At the throat, the leather extends upward, partially covering the crossguard.
The sword comes with a certificate of authenticity, wax, and a polishing cloth.
