Product description

New from Red Dragon (known for their high-quality HEMA synthetic training swords) is this line of high-level historical replica swords. These swords come with a leather scabbard and are made from high-quality steel with excellent hardness, making them suitable for intensive training.

The Langes Schwert, which literally means "long sword" in German, was a versatile and iconic weapon from the medieval period, primarily used in Europe from the 12th to the 17th century. This sword is also known as a hand-and-a-half sword or bastard sword due to its specific grip, which allowed for both one-handed and two-handed use. The sword typically had a straight, double-edged blade with a length of about 90 to 110 centimeters, although there were variations in both the length and shape of the blade. The Langes Schwert was widely used by knights and soldiers in battle and was an important weapon in medieval warfare. It provided the ability to deliver powerful strikes with a long reach, while also being flexible enough for precise thrusts and defense. The sword was designed to cut through armor and could be used for both foot and mounted combat. A key feature of the Langes Schwert was its relatively wide blade and longer grip (which allowed for both one and two-handed use), making the sword ideal for various combat techniques, such as the "sword thrust" and other medieval sword techniques. The pommel at the end of the sword provided balance and helped control the blade during combat.

This sword is based on original German longswords and features an S-shaped crossguard. It has a wooden scabbard wrapped in brown leather with a brown leather grip. The edge is 1.5 mm thick. The blade is tempered and made of EN42J spring steel. It has a core hardness of 45 HRC, and the edge has a hardness of 50 HRC. Due to the two different hardness levels, the sword is flexible and less brittle than comparable models. This sword is a combination of excellent craftsmanship and years of HEMA experience.
