Product description

Renowned for his combat prowess, Gladiator Spiculus earned the admiration of crowds attending the Gladiatorial Games and became a personal favorite of Roman Emperor Nero. Spiculus was generously rewarded for his victories in the arena, receiving lavish gifts and even palaces. According to legend, when Nero faced his impending death, he sent for Spiculus to end his life, but the gladiator could not be reached. This gladius is crafted to reflect the historical period while honoring a true champion. Unlike the standard-issue gladii of rank-and-file legionnaires, this sword features a sharp carbon steel blade that is extra long at 61 cm, providing superior reach during critical moments in combat. Despite its length, the sword remains lightweight at under 900 g, feeling agile and responsive in hand.

The grip is made from natural bone, beautifully contrasting with the dark-stained wooden pommel and guard. Due to the organic nature of bone, each sword will have unique variations in color and grain, making every piece one of a kind. The scabbard is historically accurate, crafted from wood and wrapped in reddish-brown stained leather. Gold-plated fittings enhance its aesthetic, featuring detailed reliefs of a lion and a gladiator. The sword’s pommel is adorned with a gold-plated leaf overlay, adding a regal touch.
