This Greek helmet is a replica of a 4th century original found in the Tigris, Iraq. The original is currently on display at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England. It is believed that the original belonged to a cavalryman from Alexander the Great's Macedonian army. The shape of this helmet comes from the Greek region of Boeotia. Such helmets were made from 1 piece of bronze and the model is based on a traditional felt hat that was worn this region, the petasos. Cavalrymen and hoplites in particular wore helmets of this type, because of the good protection it offered to the face and neck, while not impeding sight or hearing. This helmet is delivered including a thick cotton cap, which improves the wearing comfort. A great helmet for collectors, and re-enactors of the Greek armies and the Roman Republican armies of Classical Antiquity.
